Audi R8 Spyder
R8 Spyder is a two-seat exotic sports car that’s offered as 4.2 Spyder and 5.2 Spyder trims. A “soft-top” roof version of R8 was launched at Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009.

2011 Spyder – R8
The two-seat R8 convertible for 2011 sees no changes when compared to 2010 Spyder. Under the hood, R8 4.2 Spyder is equipped with a 4.2-L V8 engine mounted behind the passenger compartment to transfer the total power of 430 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque via all-wheel drive system.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while R tronic 6-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission is optional.
Spyder 5.2 is powered by a 5.2-L V10 engine to deliver 525 horsepower and torsion of about 391 lb-ft and with the same transmission choices.
Performance and Fuel Economy
With either transmission, R8 4.2 Spyder is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, while R8 5.2 hit 0-60 mph in quick 3.7 seconds.
Coming to the fuel economy ratings, 4.2 Spyder achieved 13 mpg in city, 18 mpg on highways, resulting in combined mileage of 15 mpg with R-tronic and 12/19/15 mpg with manual.
The EPA-estimated fuel economy of R8 5.2 Spyder is 13/19/15 mpg with R-tronic and 12/19/14 mpg with manual transmission.
Spyder Quattro comes with a choice of three colors for the top, the body is offered in 11 paint finishes, with pearl and metallic effect finishes. The windshield outline is coated with anodized aluminum.
Pricing
The MSRP of 2011 R8 Spyder is tagged at £111,995 with manual transmission, while the MSRP of R8 Spyder R-tronic transmission goes up to £117,700.
Recall
If you own a luxurious exotic car, recalls due to fuel leak issue are a great concern. You don’t want your expensive R8 to go on flame.
Audi is re-calling the new 2011 R8 Spyder due to problem of fuel leakage in fuel supply line under the hood. Well, heat and fuel, doesn’t sound good.

According to NHTSA reports, the affected Spyder R8 vehicles were manufactured between May 18, 2010 and June 22, 2011.
